Flashflood in Darong Sta. Cruz

A 13-year old girl was killed after being swept by floodwaters in Davao del Sur Monday, as 50 persons were reported displaced due to the overflowing of the Sibulan River, the provincial police chief said on Tuesday.

Senior Superintendent Ronald dela Rosa said the body of Ellen Mae Iligan, a first year school student of Inawayan High School, was recovered by rescue teams at Barangay (village) Darong in Sta. Cruz town at around 10 p.m., five hours after a flash flood hit the village.

The floods started at 5 p.m. after the Sibulan River overflowed, damaging some 15 houses in the process. The affected residents were evacuated to the Darong Elementary School.

Another person was reported missing and rescue teams composed of police, Red Cross, and volunteer organizations have launched a search.
Meanwhile, roads leading to and from the village remains impassable to vehicles due to fallen logs and debris on the road and clearing operations are presently underway.

Darong in Sta. Cruz was the hometown of my mom. She told me that it was the first time this place had a flashflood. What happen to the world? Are you ready for the coming of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ? If not better confess your sins and received Christ as your Lord and personal savior. This is one of the signs of His coming.
